In this series of 24 lectures, Johnson, professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Emory University, presents the history and development of the Bible--from the oral traditions that preceded the creation of the Jewish Bible to the establishment of the Christian canon of the New Testament, the Bible's translations, and its importance and influence through the ages. Johnson's lectures are erudite and present a complete survey of this important book's history. However, his presentation is more formal and humorless than many Teaching Company offerings, most of which manage to convey their weighty subjects in a looser, more conversational tone.
