From his coaching work with executives, the CEO of a leadership development company distills an impressive list of success strategies. He groups them into six principles: add value, communicate well, deliver results, act with integrity, invest in relationships, and gain perspective. Though his writing about these ideas is clear and his examples apt, the sheer number of recommendations comes across as overwhelming. Also, while some are powerful, some are too obvious or familiar to hold the listener's attention. What makes this collection of wisdom memorable is Alan Sklar's narration, which embodies his trademark intellectual attunement and vocal smoothness. It's a soft reading, with his usually booming voice coming across like he's discreetly talking to a seatmate in a church or movie theater.
