Tom Weiner’s baritone lends gravity to this chilling book about nuclear weapons and the potential for terrorists to use them. Yet Weiner’s narration trots along too quickly for many listeners to follow the complex technical details and profound political ideas presented by the author. Examining the trade in nuclear materials, the players in nuclear terrorism, and the risks of a terrorist nuclear strike, Langewiesche paints a bleak picture of the current landscape of these high-powered weapons. While this book, a collection of articles from the ATLANTIC MONTHLY, may lack coherence, its message is grim: the nuclear bazaar exists, and proliferation cannot be stopped.
