When the relatives of Jeremiah Taverner are invited to spend the weekend at his historic inn, they’re intrigued—and eager to get the promised financial reward. Eventually, Miss Silver is sent to investigate when Scotland Yard suspects drug dealing from the crime-ridden inn. Narrator Diana Bishop enlivens this classic Wentworth mystery. She perfectly captures the diverse accents of the family, servants, police, and, of course, Miss Silver. Additionally, an excellent portrayal of a woman who is being bullied by her "invalid" husband brings humor to the dark doings at the inn.
