If you can overlook the sometimes incredible plotting and focus on the action, as rendered by Adam Verner, this is a winner. You'll hardly notice that the plot bares little resemblance to the publisher's description--until you're in the middle of it. Then you'll find out what it's all about. Chinese mobsters, the U.S. government, and just about everyone else are after Dave Hoffman, who possesses an algorithm that can defeat all mathematical codes, totally destroying Internet security. At the same time, three students at a prestigious law school are working on a case that will bring them into Hoffman's trajectory. Verner's timing is excellent. He places the right emphasis on the important scenes and lets the chaff slide. A.L.H. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB/ MAR 08]
