Three successful women in their late twenties take the listener through what can only be described as an African-American version of "Sex and the City." It's hot, full of upscale brand naming, and very funny. Susan Spain expertly narrates this sexual confessional. Her voice coos, caresses, cajoles, and seduces. A lesser performer would have made this a raunchy "every woman's" tale, but the sheer joy in Spain's voice keeps a very sexy text just this side of risqué. There are probably few Yale graduates who want to become NBA cheerleaders, but that incongruence, along with the bawdy bits, makes this a great summer listen. Spain is insightful, winsome, sexy, and hopeful. In a word--spectacular! P.R. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: SEPTEMBER 2008]
