THE CULT OF THE AMATEUR How Today's Internet Is Killing Our Culture

by | Read by Andrew Keen

Contemporary Culture • 6.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2007

Andrew Keen is a bitter man. He doesn't like way the Internet is evolving. Web 2.0--that amalgamation of user-created content that includes blogs, YouTube, Wikipedia, and Facebook--is destroying the world. While he has some valid points, his screed, a sharp attack on currently popular Internet applications and Web sites, comes off as angry and resentful, perhaps because of his own unsuccessful experience trying to market Web ideas. Narrating his own book, Keen also sounds bitter. What could be an interesting book is marred by a grating voice. Instead of a thought-provoking polemic, the author's reading sounds like a rant.
