This rapid-fire narration leaves the listener panting with anticipation and tension for the next detailed step in Detective Brian McKenna’s investigation of a serial killer of the homeless in New York City. Only HIV-positive men are murdered. How can the killer be so selective and why? Mahoney controls the twists and turns that leave the listener craving for more. Adams Morgan sets the pace, reading each detail clearly and unemotionally. The coldness of the reading is at first disconcerting but proves to be an excellent vehicle for the vicious plot and for retaining interest in the minutely described methodology of crime solving.
