Three intertwined novellas relate the troubled tale of a family. Through affairs and children, the women of the family demonstrate their strengths and weaknesses. Gilchrist's saga is a wonderful choice for audio, gaining momentum and passion in the recording. Peiffer manages the Herculean task of giving unique voices to all of the players, balancing Southern and New England accents of all ages and both genders. There is an occasional slip of an accent in the reading, but this is rare. Peiffer brings life to the many roles and accentuates the Southern charm of the collection.
