Mearsheimer and Walt examine the role and impact of the Israeli lobby upon United States foreign policy. At its core, the controversial book argues that U.S. Middle East policy has been co-opted by a coalition of Jewish-American organizations, especially the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee, resulting in a strategically unjustifiable foreign policy. While the authors’ views are explosive, and far from the mainstream, narrator Jason Culp reads in a straight-forward manner that allows the content to challenge listeners. His performance works well because, rather than applying emphases that could further inflame, his understated style allows listeners to draw their own conclusions.
