Being a longtime fan, I was looking forward to O'Connor's memoirs. Sadly, O'Connor's voice doesn't make the transition from television screen or live stage to audio well. In describing the people in his life who had an impact on him, he often speaks in their voices. That makes for too many different characterization accents. They all wind up sounding confusingly the same. The best part is O'Connor reading his journal entries concerning his son's suicide. The rest rambles even though this is only a three-sided abridgment. Surely a veteran entertainer could do better. A.G.H. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/NOV 98]
