Aimee Lilly shows a remarkable ability to deliver this story as if she's engaged in conversation with the listener. Her narration, often dramatic and filled with pathos as well as humor, draws one right into the plot. Based loosely on the biblical story of Ruth, the book moves the story into modern times, adding fictionalized elements. Listeners familiar with the account in the Bible will recognize the sequence of events. Naomi Kauffman loses her husband and two sons to death in Las Vegas. Her daughter-in-law, Ruth, determines to travel with her to her former home in Pennsylvania Dutch country. This is a fascinating story of romance and faith. Lilly's narration is outstanding.
