VISIBILITY

A lonely London police detective cuts his way through one of the worst smog inversions of all time. Visibility and temperature are nearly zero, and people are dying from the things they breathe. The introspective text, full of low-key ruminations on being a twin and on torture and corruption and class, mixes espionage with police work. The story also features one of the WWII's most notorious Nazi fugitives, who encounters a fate that history did not record. Sean Barrett narrates in a cultured British voice, varying his accents according to the character. Americans, Germans, and various others—men and women alike—always sound believable.
