This collection of eight haunting tales is bookended by two stories of the TITANIC. Even though we know the ship sank with most of her passengers, both the ghost story and the survivor's recounting are completely gripping. Holt has an understated storytelling style that lets the plot capture the listener. The mood is intimate and unforced, the details occasionally gruesome. When appropriate, Holt uses a modest country accent and a wide range of emotion. His beautiful banjo playing provides a bridge between tales, and liner notes give the sources for each story. A great choice for fans of the genre. R.H.H. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/ JUL 08]
