CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD An Uncommon Dialog, Book 1

by | Read by Neale Donald Walsch, Edward Asner, Ellen Burstyn

Spirituality • 9 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1996

During a bleak period of his life, Walsch sat down to write some questions for God. Surprisingly, God answered by guiding Walsch to write His responses. In the audio production of his bestseller, Walsch reads these questions, and actors Edward Asner and Ellen Burstyn answer as the voice of God. Walsch's voice, coupled with Asner's masculine, commanding performance, makes the dialogue come off sounding hokey and contrived. Casting such a stereotypical sounding actor as God seems to undermine Walsch's assertion that God isn't patriarchal or human. Burstyn's performance meshes better with the book's message, but only previous converts will wholeheartedly believe what Walsch and "God" have to say. This is unfortunate since Walsch's message of unconditional love and tolerance is refreshing. J.T. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/ MAY 08]
