It's difficult to imagine a narrator better suited to this mystery featuring art expert Tim Simpson—or more able to read the Wodehousian prose with such candor and finesse. Gordon Griffin sounds like the one of those voices that tells you to "mind the gap" in the London Tube. His flexibility allows him to change accents during a three-way conversation, the mark of a polished professional. Chief Inspector Nobby Roberts involves Tim in his investigation of Moira Bassington's murder. This crime is connected to a series of paintings Tim is looking into as an investment for White's Bank.
