NIGHT OF THE JUGGLER

McGivern’s writing is so tight it threatens to snap. Tom Weiner gives voice to a plethora of characters in this drama, set in Manhattan in the mid-1980s. He performs with a pulse-quickening urgency as befits the brutal story. A brain-damaged hulk rapes and murders a child every year in some kind of twisted tribute to his dead mother. His confused and erratic actions defy logic and baffle police. But this time he has chosen the wrong victim, the only daughter of former Army strategist Luther Boyd. Boyd has only one good thing left in his life, and he'll stop at nothing to get her back. Most of the action is in Central Park, which is transformed into a brutal killing field.
