This collection of six Arthur adventures is read by author/illustrator Marc Brown, a fine narrator whose pleasant voice expresses affection for his delightful characters, from pesky little sister D.W. to Arthur himself. The production includes entertaining sound effects--listeners will hear a puppy's bark and the laughter of friends. Stories are introduced by the Arthur song, familiar to TV-watchers, with a verse synopsizing each story's content. By the end, these songs may seem overly long to some listeners impatient for the upcoming story. All will enjoy the production's episodes, though, which include classic choices such as "Arthur's First Sleepover," "Arthur's Pet Business," and "Arthur's New Puppy." The stories all provide great examples of Brown's gentle humor and empathetic insights into childhood dilemmas. J.C.G. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/ MAY 08]
