PRIZE MURDER

Graham Padden reads this thriller with a ponderous air that is well suited to the character of Detective Inspector Montague Pluke. Padden's delivery style causes the listener to urge him and the Inspector on. But Pluke is not one to rush blindly into things. He’s a cautious man. Just to be safe, he carries his rabbit's foot, his double hazelnut, his rowan twig, and his blackthorn shillelagh. But someone is kidnapping and murdering pedophiles in the surroundings of Manchester, including Pluke's own beat. After the Inspector and his wife happen upon a body on the moors, the Manchester police inveigle Pluke to become the bait for the next disappearance.
