INKTOMI AND THE DUCKS

These Native American tales come from the Assiniboin traditions and are part of Parabola's valuable Storytime series. Ron Evans, of Chippewa-Cree and Assiniboin descent, has a soft voice and subtle cadence that perfectly suit the stories. His style is clear and unadorned, much like the tales. The trickster/troublemaker Inktomi has many guises in the animal world. His foolishness helps us learn why the wood duck's eyes are red or the mouse's tail smooth.
