He sets out with his best friend, Harrier, in hopes of finding a wild mage who can help him. William Dufris's rich narration ranges from nonchalance to quiet anxiety as Tyr is thwarted at every turn. Dufris also conveys Harrier's edgy vigilance as he looks out for his friend. Dufris's nuanced characterizations, especially of Harrier and Tyr, capture their uncertainty as well as their conviction that they must find their destiny.
