BEGINNER'S GREEK

The romantic Peter Russell has convinced himself that he will fall in love with his seatmate on his flight from New York City to LA. Fall in love he does--with the lovely Holly Edwards. Only, Peter manages to lose her phone number--permanently. He still pines for her, and complications ensue. Can he get the girl? Jerry O'Connell reads this novel slowly, carefully enunciating each word and phrase. He works hard to deliver the lyrical narrative and simplistic, repetitive dialogue but fails to imbue the main character with the necessary charm. Further, the listener is privy to all Peter's ruminations, disillusion, and insecurities. These digressions, along with the slow pace of the narration and the repetitiveness of the dialogue, combine to challenge the listener to finish this audiobook.
