ARMY LIFE IN A BLACK REGIMENT

This work portrays army life during the Civil War. Thomas Wentworth Higginson, a strong advocate of using black troops, headed the first unit made up of former slaves. Higginson describes his troops with great pride and understanding. Narrator Roberts does a good job with the dialects in this one. However, varying sound levels in these recordings are a distraction.
