HEARTBREAKERS

Breaking up is hard to do, even with today's speedy forms of communication--cell phones, email, and instant messaging. Stina Nielsen takes on the challenge of characterizing four friends--Sydney, Raven, Kelly, and Alexia. Maintaining an appropriate tone of teen angst, Nielsen clearly differentiates each girl's voice and temperament as they all wrestle with boyfriends and other relationships. Trying to follow the "rules" for breaking up, the girls become closer, and their bond grows even stronger. The group stands by each girl as she weathers a relationship storm and demonstrates her own personal strength. Nielsen's narration captures every teen girl's wish for good friends and drama.
