THE DARK HIGHLANDER

Dageus MacKelter, a sixteenth-century Scot, travels to twentieth-century New York to change the fate of his twin brother, Drustan. In doing so, he unleashes the ancient evil of 13 Druids who now posses his body. The solutions to both of Dageus's problems lie within a set of ancient books and with antiquities student Chloe Zanders. Narrator Phil Gigante's baritone sets the tone for this tale of ancient Scotland, Druid magic, and the fae. His voice is perfect for the sexy presentation one expects from romantic fiction. His even pace and cool style maintain the mellow tone. However, frequent melodramatic vocal inflections throughout are a distraction. And vocal variations that represent the dialogue of multiple characters—specifically Scots accents—are sometimes inconsistent and stilted.
