Charley Webb writes a column for the PALM BEACH POST that frequently elicits nasty email, but now the responses contain threats against her and her two children. This situation is changing her usually hard-boiled demeanor and prickly relationships with family, neighbors, and colleagues. When Webb is persuaded to write the biography of a woman who is on death row for the murder of three children, the threats become real. Susan Ericksen chooses to read in a way that accentuates the story's melodrama, as well as the treacly quality of its dialogue. Also, her delivery doesn't clearly differentiate the characters.
