JEEVES AND THE FEUDAL SPIRIT

Earphones Award Winner

by | Read by Jonathan Cecil

Humor • 5.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1954

Cecil takes his place among the finest of Wodehouse interpreters. Only Edward Duke (Jeeves Takes Charge, Earphones Award) is more flamboyant; Cecil’s approach is similar to Jeremy Sinden’s (Heavy Weather, also an Earphones winner). Every character has a distinct voice, and all are genuine: Aunt Dahlia sounds as if her face were beet-red; Bertie sounds vapid; and the all-knowing valet, Jeeves, sounds as if the flicker of an eyebrow were an expression of intense emotion. The accent is upper-crust British, and the situations are hilarious. D.W. Winner of AUDIOFILE Earphones Award ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB 96]
