MCMAFIA is a detailed look at the complex structure of organized crime in modern Europe, and throughout the world, as it infiltrates legitimate businesses. Misha Glenny, a London journalist, does a deep, deep dive into the world of organized crime and finds it in the most unexpected places. Narrator John Lee contributes a measured, respectful reading, making the complicated work easier to understand. Still, MCMAFIA has a lot of strange-sounding names and places that can be difficult to keep straight, especially if the audiobook is listened to with interruptions. Nevertheless, the presentation is fascinating and scary as Glenny demonstrates how completely and seemingly effortlessly organized crime has spread throughout the world.
