KILLING THE DREAM

This is a carefully researched and well-written work on the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. In fact, this work often reads more like a detective novel than a prose account. With a low, serious voice and an excellent pace, Posner recounts King's death, the extensive attempt to find the assassin, and the arrest and conviction of James Earl Ray. Moreover, the work analyzes the various conspiracy theories--such as the possibility of the CIA and U.S. military having been involved--promulgated in order to exonerate Ray.
