WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

Alyse Myers's memoir is an honest and revealing exploration of the ever fascinating, ever frustrating relationship between daughters and their mothers. Glimpses of black humor and objectivity save this work from being a clichéd account of yet another dysfunctional family. Although the author’s traumatic experiences as the daughter of a drug-addicted father and an emotionally unstable mother are unique, any daughter will find moments, situations, and emotions that provide common ground with the author. Lorna Raver is an excellent choice to deliver this text. Her mature voice with its wry tone and Brooklyn accent lends authenticity and intimacy to the presentation.
