This is the first episode in a proposed series to be called Movin' On With Mojo. Easterner Mojo Sam arrives in Coyote, New Mexico, to play piano at the Armadillo Bistro & Cabaret. There he encounters an assortment of characters who help him "slip through the tight cracks of his narrow reality." Dave Adams plays Mojo with the right mix of awe and skepticism. As his guide, Minnie Two Worlds (half Apache, half Chinese), Rene Augesen is appropriately blithe. Jamie Sams is convincing as the gritty, world-weary owner of the cabaret. Minor actors, too, are equal to the task. Best of all are the music and the sound effects, which take us between the physical and spirit worlds with ease. Although the pace is slow, anyone interested in legend and myth should like this one. C.A. © AudioFile 2000, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/NOV 00]
