LAVINIA

by | Read by Keith Scales, Michele Gaudreau

Classics • 1 hr. • Unabridged • © 1837

This novella, written by the famous French writer in 1833, could have been written yesterday, or tomorrow. The story of an upper class woman who, jilted, gets back at her former lover, as well as her present one. The narrators are both excellent. The woman's character, portrayed by Gaudreau, shows determination behind the character; while the several male voices, portrayed by Scales, show the outlooks and mind-sets of their day. Production values are good, though abrupt beginning and conclusion jar the listener. Producing a classic novella at a reasonable price is a good idea and should be considered for academic as well as public libraries. E.F. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 94]
