Mystery & Suspense • 12 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2008

Here's a new twist on the investigation of a homicide. Forensic psychiatrist Jo Beckett is called upon to solve a series of double deaths, each a murder and a suicide. Beckett conducts psychological autopsies instead of cutting up bodies. She solves crimes by putting together the pieces of the victims' lives. The more she comes to understand about a victim, the more she’s able to get to the bottom of his or her death. Susan Ericksen gives Beckett a sometimes vibrant, sometimes self-deprecating personality. Ericksen performs Beckett as a confident investigator whose examinations of her own behavior reveal less self-esteem. Ericksen's male characters are credible but a bit overacted in terms of gender.
