AMERICAN EMPIRE The Center Cannot Hold

Audiobooks sometimes make it easier to sample a genre you might never try to read. This author's fiction, usually about alternative history, is a prime example. What if the South had won the Civil War? What if General Custer had not been killed at Little Big Horn? This latest installment covers the period from 1924 to the early 1930s. The USA is in ascendancy, ruling most of Canada, too. And the CSA, once victorious, is in turmoil. Narrator George Guidall authoritatively brings these events into clear focus. His character voices are highly believable; his mimicry of a certain type of politician is classic. Selecting Guidall to read this wonder of alternative history was a small stroke of genius.
