AT HOME IN MITFORD

by | Read by Jan Karon

Fiction • 3 hrs. • Abridged • © 1996

Karon's popular series about a North Carolina village revolves around Father Tim, the rector, and the troubles and triumphs of parishioners and neighbors. This warm, charming story is enhanced by the author's knack for creating suitable voices for her characters, a strength not always found in author readings. Although her narration is a bit over-enunciated at first, she soon relaxes, setting a comfortable pace. She uses regional accents judiciously and, through tone, does a credible job conveying both youth and maturity, as well as emotions. This visit to Mitford is worth the trip.
