First, the listener must have some slight interest in Egyptology. Then this particular listening experience will be at least satisfactory. Archaeologist Kent R. Weeks describes here his explorations in the Valley of the Kings and nearby sites, concentrating primarily on his surprise discovery that the much ignored tomb KV 5 is the largest and one of the most important sites there. Richard M. Davidson reads slowly in an avuncular manner, almost too cheerful for the subject matter which, after all, involves journeys through the crypt. He doesn't have the opportunity to dramatize or differentiate among characters--it's not that kind of book. D.R.W. © AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC/JAN 00]
