LOVE, AGAIN

For well-publicized reasons, aging has become a societal preoccupation--especially aging in women. Their mature years consist of radical physiological change; furthermore, they generally live longer than men. Such considerations make this title particularly interesting. Doris Lessing explores sexuality and love in older women in this introspective novel set in a theatrical milieu. Husbanding her resources to make it through the 13-hour unabridged recording, narrator Eleanor Bron gives a detached, ponderous reading that neither enhances nor detracts from the material.
