MAIGRET AND THE RELUCTANT WITNESS

Simenon's popular detective, Chief Inspector Maigret, employs his skills at methodical sleuthing to solve three crimes in Maigret and the Reluctant Witness, Maigret Hesitates and Maigret in Society. In the title mystery, the son of the owner of a declining biscuit factory is found shot in the family's derelict mansion. It takes Inspector Maigret to see beyond an apparent murder at the hands of a burglar and shift the investigation to a host of relatives with motives based on financial desperation, jealousy and estrangement. Frederick Spoerly's adaptations of Simenon's mysteries are excellent. Nothing is missing from the plots and character development. The use of familiar theme music and sound effects enhances the full-cast production.
