In this short, well-rounded biography of Martin Luther King, Jr., author Harry Harmer presents not just a portrait of the great leader, but historical perspective on the Civil Rights movement of the sixties. Garrick Hagon's delivery alternates between that of a sportscaster and a college professor, an interestingly appropriate approach for this recorded snapshot of a great man in modern history. Hagon is at his best quoting King's impassioned speeches; while he does not attempt to mimic the man, he does bring all of his feelings and emotions forward, resulting in an outstanding performance. Harmer delicately balances King's good deeds with his less than stellar personal life while Hagon lights up the whole work. H.L.S. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB/MAR 01]
