TUMTUM AND NUTMEG

A wonderful combination reminiscent of WIND IN THE WILLOWS and THE LITTLES, this tale will charm children and adults alike. Bill Wallis is a perfect match for the material, seeming to take delight in creating each character with just the right emotional pitch. The dialogue rolls off his tongue with verve and strength. Absent-minded inventor Mr. Mildew and his children fall on hard times at Rose Cottage—no new invention has brought home any money in a while. But behind the scenes, the mouse couple who live in the broom closet try their best to intervene on the children’s behalf. Wallis’s performance transforms an appealing story into listening the kids will want to hear again and again. D.G.
