MEAN HIGH TIDE

by | Read by Frank Muller

Mystery & Suspense • 12.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1994

The last thing Thorn's girlfriend Darcy asks him before she is murdered while diving for lobsters in Key West waters is whether he knows anything about red tilapia. Thorn learns about this unknown fish and more as he teams up with his old pal Sugarman to solve the murder, encountering characters so bizarre and evil as to send shivers up the listener's spine. Frank Muller's fine narration conveys both the sinister suspense and the beauty of the coral reef and Florida Everglades. Each character's voice is moderately differentiated with occasional lapses in the depiction of regional (Southern and Texan) accents. This book would probably be a good candidate for abridgement as it contains many long descriptive passages that interrupt the action and might prove frustrating for some listeners.
