MILLENNIUM RISING

It is the year 2005, and the end of the world is at hand. As plague and pestilence devastate the earth, Father Michael Deauchez, a Roman Catholic priest, and Simon Hill, a NEW YORK TIMES reporter, try to understand, and stop the horror that is happening all around them. This dynamic reading has many elements in common with radio theater. Director Sandra Burr has made very effective use of a wide range of audio props, including electronic music and drums to mark the beginning and end of each side of the cassette. Using accents, speech patterns, and vocal shading, Dick Hill creates an aural portrait for each of the many characters and maintains consistency even when that character is speaking from inside an airtight suit or through a bullhorn.
