WHAT YOU HAVE LEFT

Will Allison's debut novel tells of a family splintered and repaired. Three narrators tell the story of Holly, whose father dropped her at her grandfather's dairy farm at age 5, when her mother died. It's also the story of her grandfather, Cal, who raised her, and her father, Wylie, who took a lifetime to find his way back to his family. The use of three narrators aids this sprawling, meandering story as it travels back and forth in time and voice. Angela Rogers gives voice to Holly, using the straightforward, unemotional voice of one whose past abandonments have made her wary of emotional connections.
