BAILEY'S CAFE

by | Read by Augustus Williamson, Cheryl LaMar, Medwin Johnson, Bonita Harvey

Fiction • 8 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1992

An odd group of people congregate at Bailey's Cafe, a haven anywhere, or everywhere, for broken people to either heal or end their lives. The action takes place in 1948 but goes back in time, sometimes centuries, and concerns mostly "colored" people, down on their luck. Narrator Augustus Williamson has a velvet glove of a voice and gives a wonderfully expressive reading of the main character. Of the four voices, two are very good, one below par. Uncorrected mistakes detract from what might otherwise have been an excellent production. E.F. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 93]
