PAUL TEMPLE AND THE MADISON MYSTERY

by | Read by Crawford Logan, Gerda Stevenson, et al.

Mystery & Suspense • 4 hrs. • Audio Program • © 2008

The oh-so-posh husband-and-wife team of amateur sleuths Paul and Steve (the wife) Temple starred in serialized adventures on BBC Radio seemingly forever. In this case, a counterfeiter turns blackmailer to gain control of a yeast factory (?!). Corpses drop casually and frequently until the Temples, luckier at escaping various death traps than many of the other characters, sort out the bone fide clues from the red herrings and at last corner the guilty culprit, as we knew all along they would. Just from the sound of them, the listener can tell that Paul and Steve look great in evening wear and drink only the best Scotch. A poised, urbane, plucky, if stuffy and humorless, couple features in a nonthreatening, easy-listening matinee mystery. Y.R. © AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2009]
