MURDER MAKES A PILGRIMAGE

In this eighth book of this series, Sister Mary Helen finds more than spiritual refreshment on her pilgrimage to the tomb of St. James in Santiago, Spain. She also finds the body of a young woman from her tour group, strangled to death behind the saint's silver casket. Vera Rosewalker seems to relish telling the story and, together with the author, creates some unexpectedly appealing characters: Mary Helen's friend, Sister Eileen, with her Irish brogue; Police Comisario Serrano, a short man with a round little belly and intelligent eyes that see everything; and Maria Jose, his enthusiastic niece who is determined to help him solve the murder by acting as tour guide to the visiting Americans.
