Oxford-educated historian Professor Bucholz has a pleasant voice and a lively tone during 24 entertaining and informative lectures on significant historical moments that affected the evolution of London. He introduces listeners to London not only through the eyes of the royalty and kings but also through the lives of its commoners. London's history—from its birth as a Roman outpost in 100 C.E. to modern times—is covered. At times, the lectures are tedious travelogues, and much of the history after WWII seems to get short shrift. But overall, Bucholz's lecturing style engages his listeners.
