MY ENEMY, MY BROTHER

by | Read by Richard Davidson

Historical Fiction • 12.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1977

Possessed of a fine, clear voice, Davidson doesn't add greatly to the text, but neither does he ever overreach and detract. While this is a thoroughly enthralling visit to Gettysburg, written by a historian and based on facts, it is certainly not history. "I'll stay and fight it out, or die in the attempt!" cries one Union artillery officer, after having been wounded in the crotch. Did he really say that? And if so, who had the presence of mind to take notes? Pickett's men were at the wall. The book is thrilling and informative, but don't enlist.
