MY YEARS WITH CHURCHILL

In 1949 at the age of 25 Norman McGowan became, not only the personal valet of Sir Winston Churchill, but also his devoted admirer. His account of Churchill the person is made more convincing by the narration of John Middleton, who speaks with the Lancashire North Country accent of the author. So expressive is his description of life with his beloved "Guv'nor" that there is no doubt of his sincerity in refuting that no man is a hero to his valet.
