THE NAKED TRUTH

In this spurious autobiography, puns and malapropisms replace the visual gags that popularized Leslie Nielsen in such movies as Airplane! and Naked Gun. Clearly, the presentation is a spoof, not an autobiography. It's a delightful diversion akin to the comedy records of the 1970's though the content is not ribald by today's standards. Nielsen has a rich, compelling voice which nearly authenticates his ridiculous stories. In a few cases, he imitates associates' voices. The resulting mimicry is funny if not factual. While there's nothing outstanding about the presentation, it flows well. At ninety minutes, its brevity prevents Nielsen's inane humor from being overdone.
